To all parents and carers
My first email update of this half-term includes brief items on:
A Level results
Derby Youth Mayor elections
Derby Family Hub Festival
LCS Extra-curricular activities
LCS Sixth Form results confirmed
LCS Sixth Form is pleased to inform all parents, carers and our wider school community that the confirmed 2024 A level results have, once again, shown LCS students to be significantly ahead of regional and national averages, in terms of both progress and attainment at A Level.
In terms of attainment, LCS students achieved an Average Grade of B with an Average Points Score of 37.6. The regional average grade was C with an Average points Score of 33.5.
In terms of progress, LCS students achieved a ‘Value Added’ score of +0.14, the average for all school across England being -0.03.
We are particularly pleased with the progress and attainment of our disadvantaged students, who also achieved an average grade of B at A Level, with an Average Points Score of 38.0, way ahead of national and regional averages. This group of students also achieved a Value Added Score of +0.25, which is a fantastic achievement.
As with the excellent GCSE performance for LCS students in 2024, the achievements of our students at A Level would not be possible without the support of all parents, carers and our wider school community.
Derby Youth Mayor
I am delighted to announce that LCS Sixth Form student, India Johal, has been elected as the next Youth Mayor for Derby. In achieving this, India becomes the fourth LCS student to be elected as Youth Mayor in recent years.
This year's election achieved a record-breaking turnout, with 12,024 young people casting their votes across the city.
We are delighted for India, and we know she will do a brilliant job as Youth Mayor.
India’s inauguration as Youth Mayor will be in May.
Family Hub Festival
I have attached a poster promoting this event, which will take place on March 10th, from 4pm to 5-30pm, at the Museum of Making.
This is a free event, for all 11-19 year olds, and their parents/carers.

LCS Extra-Curricular programme
I would like to remind all parents and carers of our excellent extra-curricular offer and remind you all that our programme of clubs and activities is shown on our website, at the link below:
www.littleover.derby.sch.uk/parents/extracurricular
Please encourage your child(ren) to consider taking part in one, or more, of our extra-curricular activities; further activities will be offered, and the school website updated, at start of Summer Term.
Finally, for this update, I would like to take the opportunity to send my best wishes, and those of all LCS staff and students, to all LCS students and their families observing the month of Ramadan, which starts this weekend.
Thank you, as always, to all parents and carers for your support of our school.
Keep safe.
