Good afternoon, from LCS.
I have just a couple of brief items in my update today. I am planning to send one further update next week, before end of term, which will summarise the results from our recent Parent/Carer survey, as well as any further items relevant to end of term, or beginning of Spring Term.
The Sunday Times Parent Power Survey
I am sure many of you will have seen in local and national press, that LCS has been listed as one of the Top 10 Secondary Schools in the East Midlands, in the recently published Sunday Times Parent Power Survey.
Ranking tables are produced from 2024 examination data, measuring student performance at both A Level and GCSE.
Alongside our Progress 8 figure of +0.5 in 2024, which means that students at LCS, on average, achieved half a grade higher at GCSE level than students in similar schools nationally, I am delighted, as Headteacher, that LCS is being recognised, both locally and nationally, as a truly comprehensive and inclusive school. The Progress 8 figure is an average for all students and included a positive score for students with SEND and those eligible for Pupil Premium.
Christmas Jumper Day
We will hold our annual Christmas Jumper Day for all students on Tuesday 17th December.
A link will be set up on Parentpay for parents/carers to make donations, with all proceeds being donated to St Giles Hospice. Please log into your Parentpay account, to see this as a payment item.
Students wishing to wear a Christmas jumper on this day may do so, in return for the charity donation, but this is not a non-uniform day and other school uniform rules remain as normal. Students not wishing to wear a Christmas Jumper should wear normal school uniform.
End of Autumn Term
Autumn Term will finish on Friday 20th December, at the earlier time of 1-40pm. We are hoping there will be a school bus available for this earlier finish time, and we plan to confirm this by middle of next week.
Students return to school for the start of Spring Term 2025, on Monday 6th January.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our school, our students and our staff.
Keep safe.
