Our curriculum is as diverse as our student community, with exciting topics and extra-curricular activities to engage your child. At LCS, our students develop the skills to achieve academically and beyond the classroom.
Creative Arts
English
Our high expectations help students achieve excellent results in English. Stimulating texts, creative activities, and extracurricular opportunities develop practical reading and writing skills that support lifelong learning.
Enterprise
Humanities
Our Humanities faculty introduces students to various subjects focusing on people and the planet. Fieldwork is integral to many subjects in the Humanities curriculum, offering learning beyond the classroom.
Languages
We teach our students about the language and culture of France, Spain and Germany, building proficiency in listening, reading, writing, and translation. Many students go on to study a Modern Foreign Language at A Level.
Maths
We use engaging Maths teaching methods, covering problem-solving, logical reasoning and data analysis. Maths is popular at LCS, and many students continue to A Level.

Our curriculum, enhanced by first-class science facilities with 10 fully equipped labs and four computer rooms, integrates ICT experimental work and other tech-based activities.
Technology
Our technology courses and results attract students from all over Derby, giving students hands-on access to areas like Resistant Materials, Graphic Design, Textiles and Food.
