A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR LCS!
LCS Year 7 Netballs are County and City champions.

On Monday 27th March 2023 at Littleover Community School, eight girls from Year Seven were told to leave lessons at 2.45pm and head to the Sports Hall. Little did they know that over two hours later, they would be coming home with winning medals hung around their necks; the Year Seven netball A Team raised the bar for girls' sports teams. As well as having many members of Year seven attend the club for training, they turned out to be the winners of the Year 7 county tournament and City tournament too!

Eight girls, one medal, with 6 competitors along the way. Mixed feelings were shown on the minibus, as Caitlin was reported saying: "I didn't expect us to win", and Florence stated: "Not counties!" Ultimately, negative feelings were defeated, and positivity reigned.

The final match of the Yr. 7 county netball tournament was against previous rivals – Ecclesbourne, a school which showed competitiveness and confidence too. But the goal defence for LCS (Naomi) had an emerging feeling, saying: "We can do this!" Interceptions were effortlessly clasped out of the air, which were later to be pushed lower court, with another goal heading straight to the post.

And soon enough the final whistle blew. 6 – 4 to Littleover? Was queried across the court to check with the opposition's coach. It was agreed, Littleover: victorious.

The journey home was a positive one as medals hung around necks, representing pride and achievement of this once in a school year occasion.

This win reflected the success of the growing sport. The court is a place where competitiveness reigns and multiple feelings of strength, teamwork and confidence can be expressed, by passing a ball.
